Social responsibility, business and ethical factors affecting visual communication are investigated while deepening the student’s sensitivity and experience in graphic design. This class furthers the basic design skills acquired in the first year by introducing critical thinking as the basis of design process. Students gain a deeper and broader understanding of how to make and manipulate meaning and to utilize problem-solving methodologies to develop work that is compelling, informative and meaningful.

This course examines foundation principles of design including line, shape, form and texture and design principles, covering composition, balance, contrast, grid structures and hierarchy.
